Over the weekend, I kept myself entertained by checking out movies and/or series to watch on the many streaming services I am now subscribed to. Here are my three recent watches:
The Bridges of Madison County
Where to Watch: Netflix
What it is About: It’s about a discontented housewife from Iowa (Meryl Streep) who meets a National Geographic photographer (Clint Eastwood) and begins a friendship that turns into a passionate affair.
Why Watch It: It’s an old film from the 90s'. It’s a bittersweet love story that is sure to make you cry a lot! It’ll make you reflect on the choices you make in life and how it affects not just you but the people around you as well. This is an adaptation of a 1992 best-selling romance novella. Never pictured Clint Eastwod to be a romantic lead guy but he played his part in this movie so well!
The 1980s The Deadliest Decade
Where to Watch: Discovery+
What it is About: It’s a docu-series about infamous murder crimes from the 1980s in America.
Why Watch It: If you enjoy watching documentary crime series, you’ll enjoy this. It’s a terrifying and dark series.
Mare of EastTown
Where to Watch: HBO Go
What it is About: It’s about a police detective, Mare Sheehan (Kate Winslet), who shoulders a directive to revive an unsolved missing person’ case amid mounting pressure from the community.
Why Watch It: This limited crime drama series will have you hooked right from the start. Not only is the crime plot intriguing, the personal stories of the characters specially of Mare are equally fascinating. Winslet’s portrayal of Mare is someone admirable at her job, lovable as a friend but also equally complicated and dislikable.
